Please tell us what we can do to make Data Midsouth the best civic data platform for you.
Multifamily property with number of levels
Multifamily properties as a category and if they could be distinguished by Single story , two story, multiple Story and Highrise.
Unit counts (Assessor Data)
Unit count would be helpful for multifamily properties, you can see if "large homes" are single or multi-family based on land use, but it can be very difficult to determine the unit count (helpful for tax research, missing middle research).
Workforce data in Property Hub
include a descriptive field for places of employment, both commercial and industrial, indicating estimated employee counts. This would allow us to better communicate the number of employers and jobs within a neighborhood, ZIP code, or custom boundary, especially when considering the proportion of land devoted to those uses.
MPH Theme Request
Counts/percentages of renters vs. homeowners that we can see at the trend level like Census tract and zip code
TN Department of Health
TDH has an excellent compilation about birth defects in TN (Tennessee Birth Defects Surveillance System) if you have an interest in connecting. https://data.tn.gov/t/Public/views/BirthDefectsDataDashboard/CountCountyFinal?%3Aembed=y&%3AshowShareOptions=false&%3Atoolbar=bottom Description: https://www.tn.gov/health/health-program-areas/fhw/tennessee-birth-defects-surveillance-system/about-tennessee-birth-defects-surveillance-system.html
Aggregate Assessment Value
When drawing a geographic boundary, it would be helpful to see Total Assessment Value in addition to Median.
TIF & CDC Boundary Layers
Overlay tax-increment finance districts and Community Development Corporation service areas
Neighborhood Preservation Act (NPA) Filings
Environmental Court actions related to blight and habitability
Utility Disconnections (MLGW)
Tracking water, gas, and electric shut-offs to help flag households at risk
Short-Term Rental Data
Would love to build in a scraper to get all AirBnB and VRBO types of listings in the Memphis area and add this as an attribute/filter on the Property Hub
More raw census data
Some of the data sources are Census under the hood – going direct to Census allows more flexibility for geography – one script can get you data by tract, ZCTA, city, etc.
Shelby County Public Safety Data
Available at https://xfer.shelbycountytn.gov/ including current jail roster and some court docket information. I saw you had eviction data from GS court which is nice. There are some ethical concerns with keeping records that will later be expunged which would need to be worked through.
